Tom and George finding out that there wives are cheating on them in the same day is almost just to judge their character. Nick means that no matter who you are you act the same, only in this case Tom thought it out more then George so that he wouldn't have to get his hands dirty. Tom thinks that daisy is cheating on him because she doesn't love him any more. George thinks his wife is cheating on him because he's boring and doesn't give her what she wants.

Gatsby's smile represents all that is simple and pure in the world to tom. his smile seems to instill a understanding that everything will be okay at the end of the day. his smile makes nick feel like he is the center of the universe no matter what is whirling around his world. In my life the only person that has truly understood me killed them self in 2011 and I have never found anyone that understands me since.

Anyone stupid enough to try and repeat the past is doomed to repeat the past. the past must be left as the past if you could repeat it it wouldn't be called the past but the future. If it was possible to repeat the past then I would repeat freshman year and grow the hell up and act my age.

the yellow windows represent everything in the world that people will never know about whats going on in the wold. nick seems solum and a bit sad. later on in the quote he seems to take a philosophical view point on the world.

The first quote is talking about how the distance between the two lovers had seemed so far at first but once they got back together it seemed like a silly little light like all others. because they were reunited they seemed to not care about what used to be just what was then and there. the second quote is showing that even after five years gatsby was still madly in love with her. even though he still loved her she most in some way have fallen short of his expectations.

Gatsby's plan to meet Daisy seemed very odd. the book makes it seem as though he has waited many years to see a girl that he was just getting to know before he left for the war. If I was in his position I would just let things stay as they were and let sleeping dogs lie. the most awkward moment I've ever had was a year ago I thought I saw my girlfriend and ran up to her and kissed her but it turned out to be her best friend.

Looking at what once was to be a teenager in the 1920's to what it is now you wonder how people didn't get bored. with so little technology I most likely wouldn't have such insane ADHD and would be able to concentrate for more than 10 minutes. most likely I would just turn into a "reefer addict". but by our standards I would be a part time "stoner". all in all life in the 20's sounds like a hell of a lot of work for a small amount of gain....
